MAGIC BOX - CAVE VR
Magic box is a virtual reality technology without the need of VR headset. It can be experienced simultaneously by a group of people. Applied to five surfaces of a box, visitors can see the visuals coming alive through manipulation of angles (anamorphic format).
This installation was prepared to be displayed in Berlin ITB (International Tourism Biennale) 2018, for the Municipality of Kuşadası, Aydın. Apart from the beaches and the sun, the city has much more to offer in terms of history.
Many ancient civilizations lived on these lands and their traces can still be found today. However, it is hard to imagine how it was to live in these cities in the old ages just by looking at the ruins. That is why we prepared this project to make the ancient city of Aphrodisias come alive and give the people a tour into the city back when it was in its golden ages.
The technology we used was dividing the screen into different surfaces and morphing the angles so that when visitors stand at one point, the image becomes a three-dimensional complete visual. It gives a feeling that the visitor is actually inside the displayed visuals.
