PROJECT
VIRTUAL MOON TRIP WITH NON-CONTACT GAMING INTERFACE
Students learn about the geographical structure of the Moon, Lunar Landings through history and intriguing information about Moon via this educational system developed for Kinect.
BECOME AN ASTRONAUT, TRAVEL TO SPACE,
VISIT MARS AND
LEARN WHILE PLAYING!
When students move to the front of the system, they see theirselves as astronauts with a rocket pack attached behind their shoulders on the screen. They use the rocket system to move the astronaut to the desired place by their body and arm gestures. Kinect interface senses the user when they move to the front of the screen and a mission briefing is given to the user.
Goal of this project is for the student to find their own coordinates and move to the destination point on the map in a limited time. During their adventure, students live the experience of flying above the Moon’s real topography and exert a physical effort. As they reach the destination point, they see the events happening at the surface simultaneously. This way, the user is able to observe and experience the Landing of Apollo 11, raised flags, equipment left behind, failed landings with explosions, important geographical regions by being there.
